With over 850 million members in more than 200 countries and regions, LinkedIn is the largest professional network in the world. combine has already planned and implemented an expansion area for the LinkedIn branch in Munich in 2021.
Since 2018, LinkedIn has also had a location in the capital, in the Atrium Tower in Berlin-Tiergarten. The space is operated by coworking provider WeWork. In order to meet the increased space requirements for 70 employees, the Berlin team moved from the sixth to the 16th floor of the building at the beginning of the year - impressive view included.

From project management to moving in - designing the new Berlin office
combine is responsible for the project management of the new Berlin office and, as user representative, accompanied the construction and design process until the move-in. A requirements analysis and differently weighted occupancy studies formed the basis for the development of the design and furnishing concept.

combine was commissioned to examine WeWork's 450 m² of potential rental space with regard to LinkedIn's requirements following a site inspection. The key basis for the decision was formed by differently weighted occupancy studies, which were used as examples to analyze potential and estimate costs and expenses.

The occupancy studies resulted in combine's recommendation for a working environment concept that met all of LinkedIn's requirements for the space. It was also possible to retain the technical and structural conditions of WeWork without extensive renovation measures. In terms of sustainability, great importance was attached to ensuring that the new office was largely furnished with furniture from the LinkedIn and WeWork inventory.

In collaboration with the future users, a design concept was developed for the new working environments that corresponds to the LinkedIn corporate identity, is inviting and reflects the diversity of Berlin in its design language.
Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) made by combine. The design of the rooms incorporates the immediate surroundings into the working environment:
The employees were also closely involved in the process of designing the walls and rooms. They developed the idea of designing these areas as a tribute to old and new Berlin artists: with song lyrics, record covers, posters and pictures of 12 prominent musicians. Retreat rooms and special areas bear the names of well-known Berlin clubs.

Creative competition
Another Berlin reminiscence from the pool of ideas of the employees: the self-designed, 2m tall Buddy Bear Berlin. In an internal creative competition, the winning design was chosen from 20 individually designed mini bears "in large" and placed centrally in the space with a stylized spotlight.
