The Serviceplan Group is the largest owner-managed and most broadly based agency group in Europe, with locations in 34 countries and over 5,500 employees worldwide.
On Service plan A new House of Communication (HoC) was created in Vienna following the merger with the Wien Nord Group. The coronavirus pandemic initially prevented the holistic planning and implementation of office space that would do justice to HoC's integrated range of services.

The activity-based working concept
In 2021, combine Consuting was commissioned to develop a new strategy based on the Serviceplan in the House of Communication (HoC) in Munich to develop future-oriented working environments for the specific, listed HoC spaces. The office concept was implemented by architects Spath Arquitectos at the beginning of 2023.

There is a suitable location for every activity
In line with the agency group's vision of "Building Best Brands", all Serviceplan agencies focus on an integrated way of thinking and working that takes into account different disciplines, cultures and talents. As in Munich, all of the Group's communication disciplines are united under one roof in Vienna: creation and content, media and data, technology, strategy and brand partnerships.
At the new location, this integrated way of working will be even more closely linked and brought to life by a workplace concept individually developed for House of Communication Vienna. The open-plan spaces support flexible working, "activity-based working", which is optimally tailored to the different needs of colleagues: whether socializing, hybrid presentation, collaboration or concentrated solo work - there is the right place and the right technical equipment for every activity.

Change strategy at eye level
In order to develop the right concept for House of Communication Vienna, combine provided intensive support to the responsible managers and representatives of the respective agencies (so-called "ambassadors") in initiating and sustainably implementing the changes to the "new way of working" in the company. A change strategy and roadmap were developed for the entire planning period, together and in close cooperation with the future users.

Acceptance through participation
Workshops were held to (co-)develop the space concept as well as the rules and rituals of the working environment concept in the HoC. With this participatory approach, networking of the various agencies was already achieved during the planning process and an activity-based working concept was implemented that enjoys the greatest possible acceptance and best possible use.
The success of the Activity Based Working concept at HoC continues to spread: combine is currently advising the Serviceplan offices in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Milan on all aspects of New Work.
