combine is assisting AstraZeneca with implementing its office concept and with the process of moving into the new office space.

Leading international drug manufacturer AstraZeneca moved its German headquarters from Wedel, in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, to the grounds of a former marzipan factory in Hamburg Bahrenfeld in late April 2022. The landlord renovated and finished approximately 5,000 m² of office space.

The project was based on an office and interior architecture concept developed in cooperation with combine. It focuses on activity-based working and encompasses about 250 open-space workstations and numerous different work areas.

Attractive work environment for
employees and fresh talent

AstraZeneca aims to offer an attractive work environment for its existing workforce and attract fresh talent, which will be needed in the long term as the company’s portfolio of innovative drugs continues to grow. The new, central location will contribute to this.

combine has been supporting AstraZeneca since March 2021 with implementing the office and interior architecture concept and ensuring that the process of moving into the new office space goes smoothly. This includes taking a purposeful approach to integrating the tenant fit-out work and equipping the office space once the landlord’s fit-out work has been completed.

To this end, combine coordinated the various service providers in terms of both scheduling and content, prepared a timeline of steps in coordination with the client to accommodate AstraZeneca’s plans to occupy the space, and supported the process of formal acceptance of the furnishings, built-in elements, and surfaces in a quality assurance role, supervising from the standpoint of design-related site management.

BRIGHT,
INVITING SPACE

The move to Hamburg marks a milestone in the company’s history, as the activity-based working concept developed by AstraZeneca itself is also being introduced at the same time. It represents a global work philosophy that is already in place at other AstraZeneca locations, such as Singapore, Warsaw, and Gothenburg (Sweden).

The new office space was specifically designed to accommodate this modern, open work concept, through close cooperation with combine. Generous open spaces promote an agile way of working as well as they create place for more creativity and dialogue with each other. At the same time, the new office also meets the company’s current sustainability standards.
