What comes after New Work?

A conversation about the future of work with Matthias Pietzcker

Hybrid work, artificial intelligence, and a multitude of new workplaces competing with the office are leading to entirely new demands on spaces. Companies are facing the question of how to use office space effectively, motivate employees, and simultaneously meet the requirements of a digitized, interconnected world.

What it's about

In this episode, we talk about Matthias Pietzcker, CEO of combine, on the future of work – and why the term New Work too short

Is it enough to provide a top-equipped office, set attendance days, and hope that it will then work out with future work? No, he says.

Work must be deliberately organized.: on content, activities, and the right balance between individual freedom and shared responsibility. This has an impact on a wide range of areas of collaboration and office design.

The podcast addresses central questions such as:

  • What does hybrid work mean beyond seemingly simple solutions like „3 days in the office, 2 days at home“?
  • How is artificial intelligence changing our tasks and work environments? How must companies prepare for this?
  • What role does the office play when we can and want to work effectively in other locations as well?
  • How do we handle vacancies and how do we increase the efficiency of our space?

Future of work isn't automatically achieved by offering flexible models and trendy offices. It means thinking about work holistically from all perspectives – spatial, cultural, and technological. Real change only occurs when companies empower employees to act autonomously and creatively. And only when employees are aware of their scope for action and utilize it responsibly will we ultimately work together successfully and sustainably.

Conclusion: Future work needs fewer dogmas and more awareness. It emerges where people, places, and technologies resonate with each other. And where the office once again becomes a place for meeting, creativity, and orientation.
